Tailhunter Sportfishing is your premier fishing outfitter in La Paz, Baja Mexico. Arriving in 1996, Jonathan has been personally serving happy fishing customers for more than two decades. Operating the two largest fleets of sportfishing pangas, Jonathan and his wife, Jilly, specialize in customized trips and individual service and attention for fishermen and their families.
Their two Tailhunter Sportfishing fleets service two unique areas to give their clients the best conditions, the best variety and best opportunities to catch fish. The Tailhunter La Paz Fleet runs directly out of La Paz Bay. Jonathan’s boats pick clients up directly from their hotels and then head straight out of La Paz Bay to fish the areas around Espirito Santo Island.
Jonathan’s Tailhunter Las Arenas Fleet pushes off the beach from Bahia de Los Muertos to fish the famous waters around Cerralvo Island considered by many to be among the world’s foremost light tackle fisheries and the home of many world records including the world-record 114-pound rooster fish. This is known as the “Roosterfish Capital of the World.” Roosterfish alley regularly produces 30-80 pound beasts in the shallow clear blue waters along the white sand beaches, but also is home to dorado, tuna, billfish, giant snapper and many others. Clients are transported in Tailhunter shuttles from their La Paz hotels and fishing can be only yards from the beach.
After fishing, many of the Tailhunter clients take their catch and back to the famous Tailhunter Restaurant Bar on the La Paz waterfront Malecon to enjoy a great meal; sports; socializing with other guests; the great sunsets over the bay or just relaxing! The three-story palapa bar overlooking the bay has incredible seaside views and is a favorite spots for locals and tourists alike. Jonathan and Jill enjoy spending the evening hours working the floor and trading fishing stories with everyone!
Don’t forget, they can also set up other activities for you and your family including day tours, snorkel and scuba diving, paddleboarding and kayaking and many other trips!
