Mammoth Lakes Will Again Stock 10 Tons of Trout

Mammoth Lakes has been a sponsor of the Fred Hall Shows for many years.  Under the

guidance of Director of Tourism John Urdi, the city has continued to evolve.  Known worldwide for the winter skiing, the popularity of summertime in Mammoth Lakes continues to grow each year.  John is responsible for planting 10 tons of trout in the Mammoth Lakes each year.  Fishing has never been better at Mammoth Lakes.

At the annual Pond Skim at Canyon Lodge crowds fill up the slopes outside Canyon Lodge to watch the craziest skiers and snowboarders straight-line it across an ice-cold pond that’s over 100 feet long. This is the most entertaining event you’ll see all season.

Fishing Season in Mono County begins the last Saturday in April! This year it is April 25th.  Tens of thousands of California anglers flock to the Eastern Sierras and Mammoth Lakes.  Often, the Mammoth Lakes are still not open for fishing on “opening day”, but 2020 might be one of the years when we can start fishing them early.  The Mammoth Lakes are some of the most pristine lakes in the nation.  The City of Mammoth Lakes will plant 10 tons of trout this season

The Mammoth Lakes Film Festival is the premiere festival dedicated to discovering and supporting the next generation of filmmakers. MLFF is a five-day festival that screens independent features and shorts in the spectacular setting of Mammoth Lakes every Memorial Day weekend.

The Mammoth Half Marathon and 5K is a premier race that celebrates the beauty and uniqueness of Mammoth Lakes while raising money to help its communities. The 13.1-mile half marathon course starts at Horseshoe Lake, winds through the scenic Inyo National Forest, and finishes in downtown Mammoth Lakes. And a 3.1-mile 5K allows the whole family to join in the fun! Mammoth Half Marathon & 5K participants can take advantage of race weekend specials when they show their bibs at local businesses.

With over 85+ craft breweries/cideries pouring beers and ciders from around the country, the annual Mammoth Festival of Beers & Bluesapalooza is the best craft beer and music festival in the West! The four-day event features more than 20 bands on two stages performing blues, rock, R&B and soul. This is Mammoth’s biggest party of the summer and will once again be held at The Woods at Mammoth Lakes.Fathers day fish

Mammoth Motocross is the summer’s best spectator sport where the energy and adrenaline are contagious. With 7 days of thrilling competitions, this event cannot be missed. Riders have ventured to 6 qualifying locations around California during the Road to Mammoth race circuit and are more than ready to bring home a coveted Mammoth Bear trophy.

Be part of the Fred Hall tradition by participating in the Fred Hall Fishing Derby June 19-21. Fish in the Mammoth Lakes Basin, then weigh your catch at Rick’s Sport Center in Mammoth Lakes for a chance at winning an awesome prize package. Biggest fish wins! Derby ends at 6pm on Sunday. Make sure you get your fish to Rick’s before 6pm for weigh in!

The Mammoth Gran Fondo was chosen as a “top-ten century” bike ride by Bicycling Magazine for its “jaw-dropping vistas”. Situated to the east and south of Yosemite National Park, the Mammoth Gran Fondo takes riders along the east side of the High Sierra with views of the Sierra Nevada Range, Mono Lake, and the White Mountains. Options include 102, 70 and 42-mile routes along quiet roads with no or very little traffic. The after-ride party includes food and entertainment. Be a part of this incredible event, hosted by the Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation.

Please join Mammoth Lakes Track Club, The Town of Mammoth Lakes , and Visit Mammoth for the 5th Annual Mammoth Lakes Turkey Trot! Start your Thanksgiving morning out right and come out for a two-mile run. This is a fun, family friendly event! Costumes and fun are encouraged.

Winter in Mammoth Lakes inspires adventure at every turn.
